Jump Ring Calculator — Sizes & Chainmaille Quantities
Calculate jump ring inner diameter, aspect ratio and quantities for chainmaille patterns.
How We Calculate This
The calculator determines jump ring properties and chainmaille quantities:
- Inner diameter = outer diameter - (2 x wire gauge)
- Aspect ratio = inner diameter / wire gauge
- Ring count varies by pattern: connecting uses ~1 ring per OD, Byzantine ~2.5, European 4-in-1 ~3, Box ~2
- Wire per ring = pi x (OD - wire gauge)
